Happy World Environment Day!

We recently held an environmental awareness workshop for the children of our employees at our Hevecam rubber plantation in Cameroon. Hosted at the on-site secondary school, the event featured performances and presentations highlighting the importance of protecting trees, natural resources and biodiversity. A special tree-planting and reforestation ceremony was also conducted, led by representatives from the Ministry of Forests and Fauna.

This community engagement adds to our wider efforts to protect local biodiversity:

  • Beyond our 38,000 ha of rubber plantation & internal community areas, we steward 67,000 ha of undeveloped and open natural forest. This stewardship represents our commitment to preserving local biodiversity and safeguards the forest’s natural resources for the benefit of indigenous communities who may inhabit these areas.
  • We have also signed conventions with the UNESCO World Heritage Dja Faunal Reserve and the Campo Ma’an National Park to assist in the fight against poaching. We actively support in biodiversity monitoring, anti-poaching patrols and staff training.
  • Additionally, our no-deforestation policy is monitored annually through a 3rd-party satellite service.
